Recently, I have been having fun reading about Gopher. The principle seems sensible and it
is simple enough to work with. The biggest difficulty I have had so far was finding some
clear instructions as to how to make the gophermap. Well... clear to someone who tends to
scan read. I kept missing the sentence saying that there is no file extension for the
gophermap. I should really read things properly!

I discovered Gopher through a link to a blog by Isene. That set me off downloading
diggiedog to explore Gopherspace on my phone. Stumbling upon SDF, I started to explore the
various phlogs. The SDF community seems amazing with the various phlogs being a nice dive
into other people's lives. I am looking forward to exploring more.

Last night I spent some time in com and I am glad I did. Tob sent me a message about his
radio show, the Dubious Goals Committee. Feeling obligated, I listened. What a show! Tob
shares a slice of his day with some daft musical interludes and a huge personality. If you
have not given it a go, please do and join the anonradio com channel while listening. There
is lots of interaction and cat news. Who doesn't want to hear about the antics of a pet as
they happen? The current dubious goal seems to involve camoflaging a golf ball but is
hampered through aged paints.

Today was spent writing more gopher pages while listening to BBC 6Music. Sundays are nearly
perfect with that radio station. Chilled, interesting music from a variety of genres. The
sun is shining but I do not wish to leave the flat. I do not often get the urge these days.

I also managed to write a script to enable phlog creation. There is a built in command in
SDF but I could not get it to work so decided to learn some ksh scripting. The script
creates the text file and updates the gophermap with the new entry at the top of the list.
I am sure there are more elegant solutions but who cares. It works. Scripting is something I
have avoided for a while as the IT system at work is all Windows based and I keep finding
powershell scripts which previously worked failing to work 6 months later. Ah well. I am
sure there will be more things I want to play with later on. It was nice getting it all to
work even if I was getting very frustrated about entering a tab. '\t' for future reference.

Radio has been on for about 11 hours now.
