Prophets

11 ‎[1] **Its marshes** [The marshes] of the sea, as in (Job 8:11): “Can papyrus shoot up without a marsh (בִצָה)?” This is maresc in Old French, a marsh.

‎[2] **and its pools** [Heb. וּגְבָאָיו,] like (II Kings 3:16): “This valley will be full of pools.” The בִּצִים are the marshes around it, and the גֵבִים are ditches in which water is gathered.

‎[3] **will not be healed** to be turned sweet. Why? Because “they will be set aside for salt [mines].”

‎[4] וְלא יִרָפְאוּ This “vav” is subordinate and superfluous.
