LORRIES, tractors and cars as far as the eye could see set off from the
Tipperary Town Plaza on Sunday and headed in the direction of Doon.
In the forefront of every driver’s mind was one young man - Donnacha
Ryan (Luke).
The teenager, pictured below, from Shanacloon, Cappamore passed away
just days after his 18th birthday in a tragic road traffic incident in
August 2022.
Last year, his bereft parents Mikey and Nicola, sister Aisling, and a
hard-working committee organised the first Donnacha Ryan Luke Memorial
Truck and Tractor Run.
Some 500 trucks, tractors and cars took part in the run which
culminated with a family fun day and concert in Doon Community Centre.
It brought young people and the young at heart together in memory of
Donnacha who touched so many lives during his own all too short life.
Over €70,000 was raised for good causes.

The Ryan (Luke) family decided to organise a second event for Donnacha.
This year the beneficiaries are Bone Marrow for Leukaemia Trust and
Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention.
The weather forecast earlier in the week wasn’t very promising but
Sunday turned out to be the nicest day of the year thus far.
Throngs descended on Doon in four wheels to make it another special
event for Donnacha.
A post on the Donnacha Ryan Luke Memorial Truck and Tractor Run read:
“Looking forward to a great day and night and remembering our boy
Donnacha...he'd have loved it all.”
His family have done Donnacha proud once again.
