got a new keyboard

The weird key layout will take some getting used to. Having only one shift key is a little awkward, but the switches are very nice. Originally, I was worried that I wouldn’t like non cherry switches, but these khail box whites are basically loud browns. They definitely don’t buckle like Cherrys, so it’s not a quiet blue, but a loud brown.

I’m having trouble hitting the B, C, and Shift. My left hand keeps drifting right by a key. I also keep hitting fun instead of Space. Oh, I’m also hitting M instead of N.

I downloaded Chrysalis and my first customization was to hold z for a shift. Then I started looking for a new home for the enter key. This lead to mapping more layer shift keys for space and backspace. The backspace becomes a modifier for number keys and the space is a modifier to trigger a carriage return or punctuation.

On day two I find I hold the z for all the typical left shift keys and I cannot hit the C to save my life.

Due to the position, I may resort to control I instead of trying to hit tab. I’m considering moving the escape key to the grave, as well. Oh, on second thought, the shift is now an escape.
