Individualism vs collectivism dichotomy

In the precedent post I've said I would upload this. So here it is.

When I wrote this text I wasn't feeling really good so it might make no sense and be pretty hard to understand. I'll try to make it better in the future. I am too lazy for proof reading it now.

NObody can do everything alone, we are social creatures no matter what, we always naturally form collectives of some sorts, yet we aren't collective eithers

we are individuals in realtion to each other that forms networks that we could call "collectives". I think putting people in categories like "individualist"

and "collectivist" are gross simplifications of the world.

Today someone told me that the sentence "I don't like people" is individualist, but I don't think so. Everybody loves some people, but we also need to have

our own spaces and we might not be comfortable with other people that aren't our friends. Meeting new people can be nice but not all the time and under

any circumstances. To me the sentence "I don't like people" could just mean "I don't feel like meeting new people today".

I am not against meeting new people but I would rather do that with people I already know else I'll freak out.

Is it individualist to try to defines ourselves all the time?

This question was meant in the sense of defining by groups like "autistic", "anarchist", "lgbt", etc. By someone I know.

I don't think so. It just means trying to build a communtiy (a "collective") based on some other things than location, family, school or games that you are

playing. It just means making your network bigger and meet like minded people. I don't see what is egocentrist in that.

Yes i used the word egocentrist instead of individualist because I feel like this is what most people actually mean when they say "individualist".

For me those two words don't mean the same thing. I would consider myself individualist in the sense that I think it's a position of humility, it doesn't

mean I don't feel compassion or that I don't care about others at all! It means I can only feel my own emotions and I should not speak on behalf of others.

An individualist totally can work to help people, etc. They do that because it makes them feel good, because that's human. Helping other people makes people

feel good, it's not a surprise, yet pretty individualist huh? You do something because it makes YOU feel good at the end of the day; but it also makes other

people feel good.

Is this individualist or collectivist? The word isn't as binary as you can see.
