Slowly figuring out the Gemini thing. I think I like it quite a lot. Being a BBS sysop it just all makes sense. Perhaps it deeper than that. Perhaps it's just growing old and remembering how things were coupled with how things are and seeing how things could be?

Something that amazes me is how interactive Geminispace feels vs gopherspace with a minimal update in the document type. It really does feel like a BBS-style web interface, with minimal interactive menus, basic graphics. The only thing missing is door games, but there are a few interactive fiction projects that look interesting. · 1 week ago

I think there's a definite element of nostalgia involved. It feels like a line was crossed, somewhere, at which point being online became more about consumption than engaging with others. The closest we get now is in the form of petty arguments in comment threads. We somehow managed to become more disconnected from one another than ever in spite of communication being easier than it's ever been.

Personally, I've wondered if there was some elegance in the simplicity of the Old Internet, which is ,along with nostaliga for a simpler time, probaly why I find a project like this so appealing. Maybe you're in a similar boat. · 1 week ago
