Blondie Goes Latin

1941

2/5

It's a musical!

(oh boy)

Blondie and Dagwood go on a cruise with Mr. Dithers (sounds like a nightmare to me, but okay), but Mr Dithers gets a telegram about a business deal that someone has to stay behind to close. Dagwood is elected to stay behind, but he ends up joining the band as the drummer. The singer, Ruth Terry, finds out that Mr. Dithers and the family think he's left, so she puts him in a dress and a wig to disguise him, which fools no one.

Also includes: Baby Dumpling finding a girlfriend, Daisy finding a boyfriend, an omniscient Latino businessman who fixes everything by closing the deal with Dithers himself, Dagwood playing the drums, and Blondie dancing (and both doing quite well, I might add).

Dagwood doesn't punch anybody this time, but he does collide with more people than usual. It has the first appearance of the Dagwood sandwich. The near divorce this time also includes near infidelity on the part of Blondie (which actually just turns into a dance number).

Oh, did I mention it's a musical? Everyone either sings or dances at some point, with varying degrees of success. The kids even get a duet, which is pretty cute. Yeah, this one isn't very good, but the musical numbers make up for the lack of... well, anything in the rest of it.
