So... I guess I got what I wished for. I'd been lamenting the fact that Dagwood hasn't been throwing any punches in these later movies, and in this one it becomes a major plot point. Too bad it's wasted on a thin, extremely boring plot.
So Dagwood's boss, Radcliffe, has Dagwood act as a dummy for a land sale, but he buys the wrong plot of land due to some crooks selling off their horrible swamp land. When Radcliffe finds out, he demotes Dagwood down to errand boy. He sends him to get some plans from a Mr. Dixon, but he can't go for reasons that I forget, so they send Alvin's cousin Ted (who happens to be a football star) to do it. Due to some miscommunication, they think Ted is Dagwood, and due to Mr. Dixon's daughter's fiancee being a complete jerk, Ted punches him and knocks him into the pool. Mr. Dixon finds out, likes the fact that Dagwood can throw a punch, and challenges him to a boxing match, where he knocks Mr. Dixon out. He invites his daughter to meet with Dagwood, thinking he's single and not Ted, but his daughter thinks he's Ted. Due to Dagwood being married and not being Ted, everyone's upset, and hey, remember those two crooks? Yeah, they want the land back I guess, because I think Mr. Dixon actually wants it for some real money, but Alvin overhears them scheming and stops Dagwood from signing a paper in a scene that involves LITERALLY 10 MINUTES (I counted it) of bumbling around and doing nothing. The crooks are caught, Dagwood gets some money because technically he owns the land that's worth more than anyone thought, and Ted gets the girl, I guess?
Oh my goodness. Even several punches, "divorce" (by Radcliffe's decree) and Alvin can't save this one. I mean, the "find the pen" scene alone makes this one of the worst of these.
