It's a Great Life

1943

2/5

A very generic title for a fairly dull entry in the series. Dagwood accidentally buys a horse, and it isn't nearly as interesting as the time he accidentally bought a great Dane. The horse ends up as a bargaining chip in some sale that Mr. Dithers is fighting over, and it all ends with a fox hunt for some reason, and everything turns out fine. Dagwood doesn't lose his job for the, uh... how many times is it now?

The near divorce is so common at this point that Alvin and Alexander have begun predicting it, and neither Blondie nor Dagwood even have to say anything. I didn't notice Dagwood punching anyone in this, though Mr. Dithers nearly strangles Dagwood (which it seems like Blondie may have been okay with, but she says not to do it in front of Alexander).

Daisy and Reggie the horse form some kind of bond, which is so strong that at the very end of the movie they gain the power of speech.

Also notable is the scheme that Alvin and Alexander run to get the neighbor kids to beat out the rugs by putting a picture of Hitler on the side.
