I have been both brainstorming and preparing for the new work laptop tomorrow. I may have found the idea, the connective tissue that will pull all of the other ideas into a cohesive functional unit. I have a domain I wasn't able to do anything with for the longest time, and now it will likely become a channel. Usually, if you have an idea that seems good but doesn't pan out at the exact moment, then shelve it for a bit. Something useful will eventually turn up.
In some things, I am a pack rat.
I got the new laptop in today. It was a pretty grueling situation because I had to stay awake overnight, and through the morning when I am usually asleep to sign for the damned thing. Worked on setting it up, performed an upgrade on it, and with twice the power, it was slower than Melanie, and did not want to take the name I gave it.
I'm not down for that horseshit.
I hooked up my trusty 22.04 USB and wiped her clean. Sunna is fast as hell. Well, right up there with Kouka. I was too worn out for work, and it was suggested I take a night and sleep myself back into awesomeness, and that's what I'm about to do.
Studied MySQL normalization
I have an issue that has gotten my attention with Magento 2 and Redis. It mostly has to do with the maxmemory setting. At 740M on some systems, it chokes. On others, the 1.5G setting is just shy of being right. Several of the slips I worked tonight were related to evicted keys, so now I have theories and have to come up with a testing model. Understanding what the optimal size of that limit should be for Mage could help reduce issues.
I am in shock. I have lost Kouka.
I was installing Netrunner, and for some reason Ubuntu decided I needed to remove all of the Gnome and window management, including i3 and mouse control from the system.
So I got got.
Tomorrow is the weekend, so I will see if I can salvage her someway, but I am not confident. And here is where I am glad I recently scripted a git push-pull in my cron. I think most of the important stuff I have in my repos.
To update, she is not salvageable. This is when having a split partition is a good thing. From my Windows 11 side I found the most important data, dragged it to safety and discovered there is no chance in hell of getting her back. So, here's to an end of a sweet little era. The new slice will be called Solis, and I already have a color scheme in mind.
I have her renewed and up. A little tinkering to be done just yet. I also got the newest Talisman installed, so hopefully Aleph BBS will be in full swing by Monday as well.
This week was the week of Midsummer, and it kinda shows since I had to build two Sun-themed systems in a week.
