Oh this place

I've spent a couple of hours yesterday and today just browsing through Geminispace and so far I am totally amazed. Not just with smol.pub (also been to midnight.pub and on SDF), but with the whole vibe and the protocol itself.

Now, I had a Gopherhole back in... *checks notes*... 2017 and 2018... *checks again*... yep, it is still there. A beautiful place, Gopherspace is. But maintaining a Gopherhole is a pain in the butt if you are not in front of a computer. I work with a computer all day. This also means that I try NOT to spend too much time in front of one outside of working hours. Technically it is possible to create Gopher documents on a smartphone, yes. Is it simple? No. Is it convenient? Hell no. Double no.

And that is where Gemini (and smol.pub in particular) beats Gopher. No extra piece of software needed, point your browser to the homepage, log in, textbox, type, save, done. It's like the WWW was ages ago. A simple tool for a simple purpose: publishing text.

No bells, no whistles, no block editors, no shiny stuff. Type. Publish.
