“Darkness is quiet; i feel it”

Darkness is quiet; i feel it
speak gentle words of comfort,
but the world continues turning.

Daylight is loud; i hear it
pressing down on my skin,
as the world continues turning.

My eyes masked, my body is
assailed by the brightness
as the world continues turning.

My body needs respite, rest,
but the light is remorseless
as the world continues turning.
