Hey everyone! Pretty new to Gemini and don’t have a capsule yet. I’d be drifting through space without this station. Will need to set one up going forward. Any tips?

I am also new to Gemini. Just started checking it out today. It's a very cool experience. Post a link to your site when you have it up! Would love to see it. · 2 years ago
Thanks everyone for the tips. @hyperlinkmyheart Incidentally I have one old ununsed raspberry pi laying around. The issue is my IP is dynamic, my upload speeds are questionable and I’m unsure about security implications. · 2 years ago
I'm hosting mine at home on a Raspberry Pi, but any old hardware would do if you want to go that route. I also use a static site generator so that it has a nice consistent structure:

Self hosting is the more expensive but also more fun way to get your own capsule set up. The gemini quickstart has some good resources to get started, self hosting or not. Good luck! · 2 years ago

I'm also a formerly capsuleless drifter, but there are a number of places that are happy to set up a capsule for you. I use pollux.casa, but midnight.pub is a popular option.
You're not going to be able to set up anything big or requiring server-side scripting but it's a good starting point if you are just going to write a bunch of static text and link things. · 2 years ago
