I think I'm dipping my toes too far into the unknown, but I've really become disenchanted with the web. I'm not going to quit everything and live in a cabin in the woods, but I'm being more conscious about my choices and trying to maybe become engaged in smaller communities instead of screaming into the void. I still have to, to a degree, to sell my own artwork. I'd love it if I could consist of commissions from these smaller nuggets of the internet, but that's not a stable thing to do.
The fediverse has been quite nice in that there are cool people there, but this feels more like an independent study of yourself. I can't guarantee this is something that I will remember about, as I bounce around ideas at an alarming rate, but gemlog.blue has a deletion policy that I helps me know that I will not have an unused one post for all of the future, which is somewhat refreshing.
It's somewhat weird for me, as I am an artist, and gemini doesn't support images, but links are the best I can do. Lagrange at least lets me view them inline, I think? The links I see seem to come from gemini and not from the web itself, but let's try! Elsewise if I use gemlog.blue enough, I can try and figure out hosting my own thing. (Update: They do not work off-gemini, but I will figure something out eventually.)
This morning I looked up old internet things, like the pixel art doll bases that used to be popular on gaia online and deviantart. I would always make the hair and never finish the rest, struggling to match the style in a way I wanted. That was 15 - 18 years ago, and pixel art is now my job. But I went back and made a little one from kawaiihannah! Let's see if I do this right
