i've been feeling itchy on social media for a while and deleted almost all of it a long time ago-- i have a tumblr and technically a tiktok on my tablet but i just watch book videos. i guess i have an instagram, but its a locked private acct with no posts i just use to text friends and sometimes post anime memes. ive had a lot of bad experiences on social media and i really hate the way it feels like it's rotting peoples critical thinking skills. i know everyone says that, even the people who probably are most effected by it, but i still feel like it's true and it makes me sad. even just 10 years ago, the internet actively helped my brain think about things differently and look at things in a new light. i think that could still be the case if it was the cultural norm to focus on actual socialization and knowledge transfer instead of social currency and real currency. idk how to be like The Woke Mob without sounding bonkers bigotted, but the woke mob and the unwoke/bigotted mob alike feel so uniquely Online in recent years, and provably Online through things like the alt-right algorithmic pipelines that are created when reccommendation AI is left without checks and balances and there's only 3 tech companies who own everything. peoples opinions sway based on memes and viral outrage is a legit marketting tactic both capitalism wise and also like politics wise and it's all such a mess.

idk what i'm trying to say or even get at honestly, i guess this seems like a safe place to vent out all my thoughts without filtering. i think i might use this as a sort of existential diary, compared to my neocities which more of a pretty brain dump.

are there old-web-revival fandom things? i left fandom years ago because of how mean spirited it was, with manifestos on tumblr about how everyone else is an idiot and their character interpretation proves Media Literacy and how they're cool and not cringe like other fandomies etc etc etc. i guess there's always discord fandom communities, but so many are all 14 yr olds. i don't know.

i guess that's it for now. ideally i'll eventually migrate from using gemlog.blue to figuring out how to run a gemini browser on one of my devices, but i'm bad at sysadmin stuff (like, i just recently had to learn a ton of it for work and it was like pulling teeth). i'm firmly a coder, things like unix and file trees etc etc just dont make sense to me.
