Hey Nex people - anyone know where I can find a formal spec? Looking specifically for a path length limit.

I have no authoritative knowledge about this, but the protocol does not specify a limit for paths, so therefore they can be technically unlimited in length.

However, operating systems typically have a certain maximum length for file paths, so that's the practical limiting factor (if serving actual files). · 5 months ago

This is the only official spec that is available: nex://nightfall.city/nex/info/specification.txt

I presume that, since nex comes from within the gemini and gopher communities, its path length limit would be 1024, but this is a good question to get clarification on. Perhaps the creator has some way to contact them, idk. It would likely be somewhere on the nightfall.city site though. · 5 months ago
