hey folks, i need to puke out myself, don't know if this the right term traslated to german ' sich auskotzen', but my parents were arguing cos of nothing, then i was a bit angry and told them to behave like adult people. then my father literally told me to shut the fuck up, then i got i angry and told him to shut his fucking mouth while my mother is in place, and i dare you to talk to me in this disrespectful manner. i am a grown man in my mid 40... shall i punch you son? yes, maybe dad, but for the last time... i have so much furious anger in me right now... and i hate this for i am a totally peaceful man.... *puke

@fripster i tried, didn't work. gave them some drinks and a night to sleep, think it works now. · 1 month ago
@maxheadroom lol that was quite exactly what i did ;) gave my dad a smoke while he quit long ago, a big shot of kraken rum und left him alone watching sports... seems to be ok now again cos they're not yelling at each other and watch tv shows together... i would not be so upset if there was a reason, but we only told jokes and suddenly... RAAAAAGE, me just wtf is going on, what did i do? well, and then i lost my religion, for as i said, i am not a 10 year old boy anymore... · 1 month ago
Corporate society is very destructive to humanity?
Give your parents a hug, and confuse the shit out of them. Present them a Bavarian dish they can't resist, then tell them that you love them. Have a beer etc. and create a very uncomfortable silence. And whatwver they say. Agree with them in the kindest way.
Not sure if it works for you. But sometimes a full stomach and a bit of booze can open up minds and lift them out of the corporate shit hole mindset. · 1 month ago
ugh.
not sure if helpful here, but there is this book titled “children of emotionally immature parents” or something like that. it’s a good read!
fwiw, i think the cultural translation of “auskotzen” would be “letting some steam off”. clearly this phrase was coined in the industrial revolution, which i imagine to have been a stressful time as well. · 1 month ago
@fripster Deescalation is good, but a child (even an adult child) should never have to "parent" their own parents unless they are very old and losing mental capacity. Kids who have to act as the parent end up with emotional disorders. · 1 month ago
That is shitty when it happens. But you have to stand your ground I suppose, you are not a 10 year olld kid anymore. But first and foremost, being an adult also means that you have to keep on trying to deescalate the situation. Maybe you could be the 'parent' here? Just my two cents'.... Good Luck · 1 month ago
