Previous: a miserable little pile of secrets
2 April 2022
Okay I haven't been around for a while. Sorry capsule, sorry tilde, sorry world. Whoops. So now I'm sitting at Panera, listening to Siouxsie and the Banshees, and I guess I'll type a bit why not.
Work! Been waking up at 5am-- 5:40 I guess every day. Roll out of bed, eat a small breakfast, watch an episode of something (usually Brooklyn Nine-Nine, I know it's copaganda and ACAB and all that, but that Michael Schur knows how to do an ensemble comedy, I should finish The Good Place sometime) and get to work around 6:40. Stretches, morning meeting, then craning big fuckin axle shafts around for eight hours until I can go home. I've been there for, uh, almost two months, and I still haven't touched a lathe, even though my job title is technically Lathe Specialist? Oh well. High paying union job etc. Sure do miss smoking dope though.
Toys! Got drunk one night and was window shopping on Best Buy's website at iPads, but luckily I fell asleep before I clicked anything irrevocable. Instead I bought a used iPad (5th generation) for a hundred bucks off a guy on AtariAge. Good move, sober me. It's not new or anything, but I definitely get why people love these things so much. This is, what, five years old now, and it's running the newest version of iOS, and actually doing a decent job of it. That's wild. Find me a five year old Android tablet running Android 12 worth a damn, I dare you. I'm definitely still sticking with Android on my phone, at least for now, but I'm tired of waiting for a decent Android tablet ecosystem, it just isn't going to happen at this point. Before I got to Panera today, I went up to Best Buy and bought a cheap little Logitech Bluetooth keyboard, and I am so far content with it; nothing exciting to say about it, but it's a lot better than using the onscreen keyboard for anything over, uh, a sentence.
Life! Very little of it. I /might/ have met a lady, not sure where that's going, but we've hung out a couple times and had fun. First time went from a date at a fancy sushi place (which was absolutely delicious) to sitting on her couch talking for a few hours to watching Star Trek IV, V, and VI projected on the wall in her bedroom, which is her only TV? People are all different and it's weird. She came into town last night, we ate Taco Bell and watched Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call: New Orleans. (Werner Herzog and Nicolas Cage, twin geniuses, why are there iguanas on my coffee table?) Then she drove back home and I ran up to a venue where my friend Connor and his band had their CD release party/show. Good hard stoner metal, very Kyuss Against The Sleep. (Have I mentioned that I miss smoking dope)
Oh also. My grandmother, god bless her, is 93 or 94 and has just gotten discharged from the hospital and sent back home after fighting off /another/ round of pneumonia and various infections. They call her the Energizer Bunny for a reason, but I'm not sure how many laps she's got left in her. Going to be heartbroken when she goes.
I think that's it. Okay bye thanks etc.
