Sarcastic Shadowleaf

2022-04-03

I picked the son up at his apartment around 12:30 pm and we rode to the big city to attend the Nascar race. I think we got to the track and parked by about 1:30 pm, maybe even a little earlier. We didn't have any problem coming to the track and only a minor slow down finding parking. The race was scheduled to start at 3:30 pm.

We walked around the track a little and spotted our seats and then walked the area outside the track that sells souvenirs and food, etc. Suprisingly, I had forgotten earplugs at home which are a necessity. I have a whole bag of them from a big box store that I use while riding the bike or weed-eating, etc. I completely forgot. But we found a trailer selling them so no harm no foul.

We explored a little longer and then picked up some 8" pizzas for lunch and chilled out for awhile. We eventually made it to our seats on row 39 (my knees won't forgive me) and sat through a really boring race in all honesty. I think they had 1 caution for a minor spin and relatively few passes.

We left the track with 100 laps left in the race and stopped for dinner at a sandwhich joint. I haven't eaten there in a couple of years. It's still an over-priced restaurant, but it was nice. We chatted for awhile and just spent some time hanging out.

I dropped the son off at his place and got home myself at about 9:00 pm. I had a great time hanging out with him. The only aggravation was that it was only about 55-60 degrees and the wind blew non-stop at about 40 mph. If it weren't for the wind it would have been very nice weather but the wind just wouldn't let up. I feel like I have wind burn on my face even now. Again, I really treasure the time spent with the son though and so it was well worth it.
