In Poland if you have day job then you are "blessed" with few holiday days to use in each year. Actually you have to use all of them if you like it or not. Otherwise there might be a suspicion that your company didn't allowed you to go on vacation and that is illegal.
I like to spread all holidays in such a way that it don't feel like on vacation so I don't get lazy. Let's pick week day that is least productive in big company. Of course this is Friday. No releases, no important meetings and all normal people already thinks of weekend. Perfect. This is how usually my "holiday" file looks like:
[** Public holiday] [++ Sick leave] [## Holiday] 2021 January February March Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa ** 2 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 3 4 5 6 3 4 5 ** 7 8 9 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 14 15 16 17 18 ## 20 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 21 22 23 24 25 ## 27 24 25 26 ++ ++ ++ 30 28 28 29 30 31 31 April May June Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa 1 ## 3 ** 1 2 ** 4 5
By having 3 free days in week you actually have 3.5 days for day job and 3.5 free days because job ends in the middle of Thursdays. First half of the week to pay the bills and second for real coding. April looks promising.
