Well, $1229 to be precise, after the conversion. The schedules have finally aligned, and the Toronto Blue Jays will finally (finally!) be playing the Minnesota Twins at Target Field during the summer break. I mean, they play them a bunch every year anyway, but we've been checking, and it's always before July, or after Labour Day. My partner's schedule doesn't really permit vacations outside of July and August. So we can finally make the long drive. We're going with some friends. Load up the SUV, make a weekend of it.
And while not everyone is going to every game (my partner and I are, and one of our friends), that's still a bunch of tickets. One game we're going to be behind home plate, but fairly high up; for another, in the cheap seats in the outfield. But for the third game, we've treated ourselves to seats along the third-base side, a few rows back, so we can cheer on the Jays.
I wonder if we'll be able to see Kevin Kiermaier's dreamy blue eyes.
So I paid for everything, just to make it easy, and we'll figure it all out later. One thing's for sure, my partner and I are probably going to need to get jerseys, or at least new t-shirts. We last saw the Jays play in 2012 (a Romero loss and a Villanueva win - doesn't that feel like a lifetime ago?) and I was, shall we say, a little svelter then. Combination of middle age and not cycling 25 km round trip on weekdays. A little sad, because my taste was impeccable - I got a Bautista t-shirt, and my partner got...Lawrie. Oof. So we'll need to see what we get this time. I know she'll get Bichette. I think I've gotta get Guerrero Jr? I'm easy, I like home runs.
Really looking forward to this. I hope the Jays hitters don't have an off year (like last year), I hope they're playing meaningful baseball, and if I can dream a bit, I hope they're running away with the division. But honestly, win or lose, I don't really care. Those games back in 2012 were wonderful, despite the terrible season. Rogers Centre was awful, but the tickets were cheap, and the roof was open. For a few hours, it's live baseball. And if you love baseball, there's nothing better than that.
