More Limerick homes launched after anxious buyers slept in cars

THE SECOND phase of a County Limerick housing development that saw

couples sleeping in their cars to buy a home in the first phase is

being launched this Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23.

People will get the opportunity to purchase homes in Camoge Park,

situated on the outskirts of Croom village.

GVM new homes director, Paul Crosse said they have 10 properties, built

by Clancy Homes, coming to the market in phase two.

“There are six three-bedroom semi-detached and four four-bedrom

semi-detached. We didn’t have any three-bedroom semis in the first

phase so we expect big interest,” said Mr Crosse.

The auctioneer said they don’t encourage people to sleep out in cars,

which occurred last November in Camoge Park.

“We have done a number of launches now in Limerick and Kildare and it

is something that is creeping back in. It is not the case that we are

sending people away disappointed, it is more that people have a

specific unit in mind i.e a south-facing garden, or a house with a

lucky number that they really want.

“At the first launch we had 15 prospective buyers and 15 sales so

everybody was happy,” said Mr Crosse.

It is expected that they will move into their new homes in June with

the second phase being launched on Saturday being completed by the end

of the year. Prices are on application but are competitively priced

compared to similar properties being built on the outskirts of Limerick

city.

Mr Crosse said the vast majority of purchasers are young couples.

“A lot are renting and want to buy their own house and Clancy Homes are

well-known and well-established. At the launch of the first phase we

had a couple of people buying that day whose parents had bought Clancy

Homes and were delighted with the build quality. It gave them a lot of

comfort to know they were also buying a Clancy home.

“There was a good amount of interest locally and people looking to move

out of the city for more affordable housing. Croom ticks all the boxes

- you are 15 minutes from the city on the motorway so is ideal for

people working in Raheen Business Park and you have excellent schools,

hospital, shops, pubs, restaurants, and a range of amenities,” said Mr

Crosse.
