Distributed dreams

I'm dreaming of a small distributed internet that can be hosted in my browser.

In a way that already somewhat existed, and it went by the name BeakerBrowser

that used the dat protocol. Yet at some point the devs put it on the shelf and

as they wanted to make an interactive thing that works like facebook but then

decentralized. All fine with me as long as I'm allowed to keep things small,

but it was not supposed to be like this. As i said, they decided to put it on

the shelf and that was that. Moebius had to find another solution.

Then I remembered Finger and Gopher. I started to play with gopher and yes it

was as small as I liked it to be, but it was not decentralized like Beaker and

THAT was a bit of a bummer, and Gopher was old and a bit of a pain to work with.

So I took a step back from all of this. At some point I had a discussion about

all of this and someone pointed me to Gemini.

Still not decentralized/distributed, but it looked SIMPLE to use, small and

thats it. From there off and on I looked into Gemini still hoping to find

another Beaker. But that never materialized.

Now I'm going to throw an idea in the ring.

WHAT IF:

What if Gemini was distributed over a torrent like network. Where anyone who

loads my capsule will serve my capsule into that mesh. This way nobody needs to

host a server. Everyone has full content control over their own data.

I think this alone would be enough to make internet awesome again at a new

level. The absolute coolness of the small sites on the big web.

But can this be done? I'm not a developer, I'm not a coding wizard.

If you are, then please let me know, or just take the idea and make it big. Big

enough so that I can find it, and make use of it.

I don't know how complicated it would be to put gemini and dat in a blender, but it would be awesome.
