A fermented tea beverage for those not familiar. We got a SCOBY (symbotic culture of bacteria and yeast) from my spouse's coworker and our first batch of kombucha is almost finished! We snuck a taste and it was pretty good but now this batch is in bottles doing a shorter second fermentation. We've added some fresh lime juice and mint to a couple of the bottles and ginger to the big jug. Hopefully the flavors turn out well. Our second batch is already started so we're going to have lots of kombucha to drink soon. This isn't our first attempt at kombucha. We made one batch a few years ago that didn't turn out terribly but we missed the second fermentation step and ended up with no carbonation. Oops! I'm excited to see how it turns out and this will save us a nice chunk of change considering how much kombucha costs at the store and how much my spouse likes it.
I watched some peertube videos last night and it was great. Started off with some of Andrew's lo-fi beats to destroy the state to followed by a little Chex Quest playthrough on moutaintown.video. Was a nice compliment to the dishes I was doing.
Next I discovered a really awesome channel called Gentle LIving Shop. I love everything about it. Video tutorials on how to make useful household items yourself like a backpack, soap or pants. The video explaining their reasoning behind leaving youtube completely for peertube was really endearing too. They produce their videos with all open source software and do zero tracking. The production quality is very good and even if I will never sew my own canvas backpack it was still quite interesting to watch one being made by hand. It is an awesome channel so I'd recommend checking it out if you are looking for good peertube content.
