The Famous Rhinoceros

What a nice break from the previous weather patterns where it was warm and/or sunny during the week but cold or rainy on the weekends. This time the whole week has been building up to this weekend as far as temperature goes. Today's temperature peaked at just about 78 degrees and tomorrow it's supposed to be in the middle 80's.
I was fortunate to be able to take advantage of the warm, sunny weather today. I've had some stress this week that was taking it's toll. A friend happened to call Friday night and he was very concerned right from the first hello - he could tell by my voice, cadence, lack of energy I suppose.
I was able to meet another friend and we rode motorcycles for a good while and got some lunch. This particular friend is able to carry on a conversation about almost anything while not being overly pushy or needy. He's very knowledgeable about many things but not nerdy at all. I enjoy his company and I really appreciated it today.
On the way home I stopped at the grocery for chicken to make some spicy chicken tenders. The Mrs. likes them and we haven't had them in a while. I was able to get home in time to cut the front and side yard grass. The Mrs. has been doing it the last few weeks but I wanted her to have a break.
After dinner I was able to finish my house chores in enough time to work on some programming tutorials again. This particular one had practice at the end of the chapter where we have to create a few simple text based programs/games. Nothing too sophisticated, but enough that you needed to utilize the taught concepts brought up in earlier lessons. Also enough that you should be able to succeed in writing the simple programs, which I did, that would give some satisfaction and a visible marker of progress - which it did.
Speaking of which, I've been using the old Dell laptop (32-bit) that was acquired through the generosity of others but the battery only has 30 percent capacity at a full charge. So it only lasts about 30 minutes. I was able to buy a replacement battery that was also much larger. It's used, but the laptop reports that the capacity is at 98 percent. It's been great not being constantly tethered to power. The reported run-time is around 6 hours. I realize it's highly dependant on what you're using it for, but it's still loads better than the previous battery.
I guess that's all. Tomorrow #1 son is supposed to come over and we may all ride to the big city for lunch and a haircut.
