Liberating Cleanser

2022-01-15

I've really been enjoying getting to know the Gemini Protocol (1) as well as reacquainting myself with the Gopher protocol (2). They are both so much easier to work with and so, so much more of what I look for in online information.

If you are somebody who does not use an adblocker, or enjoys automatically playing videos when you enter a website page, you might not agree. I am, however, 100% in favor. I would give them money if I could. The web has become a cesspool through the influence of some very large companies. I find it offensive. If it were not for uBlock Origin, I wouldn't use it at all.

I will agree that there is some good information on the web but in many cases it's very difficult to find unless you are willing to use the tools the corporate web gives you.

I would not be suprised if you hadn't heard of the Gemini protocol (1) because it's very difficult to monetize, so "the commercial web" doesn't want you to know about it. It's not in their best interests. It needs to be promoted though. Shout it from the rooftops and help take back the web.
