Do you like music? Do you hate ads? Check out somafm.com - they have a whole bunch of channels that include such genres as electronic, alt rock, 80's UK synthpop, reggae, country/folk. All the music on here is picked out by real people, and they operate ad-free (through donations). Here's their website:

I have enjoyed listening to their channels so much over the past five or so years, that it would be irresponsible of me not to give them some recognition.

Here are some of my favorite channels and what they are:

BAGel Radio - alternative rock. This is really great. I haven't heard of any of these artists, and I've discovered some good bands listening to this. Ted does a live-hosted show on a certain day of the week.
Groove Salad - ambient, electronic music that I enjoy listening to when working.
Digitalis - smooth analog rock. This calms my nerves if I'm feeling stressed.
Heavyweight Reggae - reggae, ska, rocksteady from several decades ago. Some of this sounds like it has been taken off of records. A lot from Jamaica I think.
Underground 80s - 80's synthpop from the UK. Sometimes when the mood strikes.
Metal Detector - heavy metal. I listen to this when I HAVE to stay awake.

They also have some really good Christmas channels.

I put together a bash script to easily play my favorite channels from the terminal. It uses dialog and mplayer. Here is a screenshot of it:
