A slow (mostly under 300 km/s) partial halo coronal mass ejection (CME) was detected by LASCO C2 coronagraph imagery around 21:48 UTC on Jan 14th following an M4.6-class flaring from NOAA AR 3182 in south-west. The eruption has clear on-disc signatures and is expected to have a small Earth-directed component. A glancing blow from the CME is expected to arrive to Earth late on Jan 19th or early Jan 20th. The arrival could lead to enhanced geomagnetic activity at minor storm levels.
