Veganism is often associated with utilitarianism but I’ve never been into that. I’m more into an existentialist take on it:
We have to choose.
What Kerouac called the moment where you see what’s on the end of everybody’s fork.
“If they are our brothers, how come we can’t eat them?” That’s up to you and is always going to be up to you.
Climate change, sure. But a lot of peeps still aren’t on board. Everyone is still making their own choices every second of the day.
It’s like we’re in this big boat and every single person has their own drill and I can’t really do anything about a hundred people deciding to use theirs.
I’m still trying to do the best I can to A. do good, and B. make others do good.
I mean, finding out what “good” even is is a kind of difficult proposition.
I’m not about to start taking climate stuff lightly or start eating meat or whatever. Don’t worry. I’m still fighting.
