I liked it mostly, aside from a couple of annoying nitpicks. (Why couldn’t I introduce Zero to Cylva and Unukalhai??) The FFIV fanservice was nice but I really do think the story stands well on its own, unlike some content I could name... (cough, Ivalice, cough, Nier)
Zero is one of my fave character archetypes. Maybe there could have been less repetition of her themes overall, but like, it's a Final Fantasy game, I wasn’t expecting subtlety.
There really, really should have been a detour in the MSQ to meet Cylva and Unukalhai. Zero needed to meet them. It would have been nice to tell them about the soul vessels and see if they wanted the option of going home. If we’re getting really ambitious, Unukalhai could have chosen to stay and learn more about the Empty restoration and Cylva could have *joined our party*. Or if they didn’t want to expend that effort she could stay too. Just. Why couldn’t they meet.
I mentioned this yesterday, but the raid series should have been swapped.
Saw a comment on [#ffxiv](https://fandom.ink/tags/ffxiv) Reddit that was actually *good* — Pandaemonium should have been the Alliance Raid series, and Myths of the Realm should have been the Normal Raid series.
Like, my biggest gripes with the raids are “the gods are made of paper” (having a savage mode would fix that!) and “we should have gotten to actually explore Pandaemonium” (and in an AR, we would have!)
Now I’m sad that’s not how it went.
The Twelve die too quickly. Llymlaen died just as my fight with her was getting good, *on patch day*. Meanwhile, some of the Panda fights have padding for padding’s sake (Hegemone, Themis). This would have been so much better if MOTR was normal raids and Pandae was alliance raids.
Also, the whole “Pandaemonium is a cool spooky prison with traps and wards but you’re sundered so they’re nbd” thing. Let me explore it!!!
I didn’t really care about running through the heavens in MOTR. That could easily have just been each respective god transporting us to the battlefield before their fight.
I guess if that happened, though, Erich would have had to be a solo fight before Asphodelos and something else would be there in his place. Which would have been an acceptable tradeoff.
