Status of pollux.casa

The site pollux.casa is down for a while now, does anybody know why? The mastodon of the operator says she may not have time to continue operating the host, but there is no concrete mention of it being down

I remember reading a similar post here in geminispace about a month or more ago now. unless that was a different hosting service.

ok, the site is up again since about 1 hour, what are the odds?

Well, if someone has no time to host a service, it will degenerate, because there's so much potential for things to go wrong when not actively being maintained.

But it would definitively be helpful if the owner of the pollux.casa would either call it quits and work with others Gemini hosters to transfer data, or hand over the domain and data to another person, if users agree. But that would be taking time again. If the owner would have enough time, the hosting probably wouldn't stop.

In general, what I miss from services is the ability to forward URLs for a couple of weeks when going out of business.

the admin mentions supporting redirects to another gemini url for users if they want to change hosts, though I am not sure how that would work for a longer time if the service was discontinued. But that is kind of the same problem with any site that runs off a single domain that the owner runs as a hobby
