Below is some info which should help with Rescue Raiders.

Try "zippy", "poppy", or "hoppy". One will work, depending on the version.
BTW... if you leave it turned on, it will eventually freeze the game. So
turn it off (by typing it again) at the end of each level, and then turn
it on at the beginning of the new one. The keys commands (when turned on)
are as follows:

        <return> - bulletproof
        / - extra helicopter
jkl - teleports you far laft, right, or center, respectively
        - & # - press the "-" key then the number of the level you want
to jump to (i.e. "-3" will jump you to level 3)

"poppy" means you have the original version... "zippy" means you
have the _pirated_ version! =^) (never heard about "hoppy" though)

This is one of my favorite stories on the Apple//. I can't
remember where I read about it, but the person who cracked the game
changed the word from poppy to zippy just to see what would happen.
Later magazines would be printing up in their game sections about
typing "zippy" to access the cheat keys. =^)

I remember seeing this in Family Computing (when they had the
K-Power section) saying something like "type POPPY, but if that doesn't
work, try ZIPPY".

>BTW... if you leave it turned on, it will eventually freeze the game. So

never did crash on me, then again I never really got far in
the game. I used to enjoy just hovering around my base and launching
constant barrages of heat-seekers to completely level everything, and
maybe send out some engineers to fix up those AA-guns.

Wow! It's been a while since anyone one has mentioned games in
CSA2! And one of my favorites, Rescue Raiders. Hey, just out of
curiosity, where were you guys with these cheat hints when I was
struggling with the game? :( (j/k)

I did eventually finish the game, though it took a LONG time.
Here's a little thing I used to help myself in the game. I used to think
it was a "cheat", but maybe it wasn't. I'll let you guys decide.

What I found out and what I kept doing was, at the beginning of
each level, I would pick up 5 soldiers in the copter and fly all the way
across to the enemies "base". Assuming I was able to survive the flight
to make it that far, I would attempt to swoop in and dump the 5 soldiers
and hopefully be able to take over the base. It wouldn't always work the
first time, but eventually you should be able to get it right. My reason
for doing was simple, after you are able to take over the base, none of
the ememy tanks, soldiers, etc. will come out for a good long stretch of
the game. That meant a free rein for you and your forces to swarm in on the
enemy time machine. Of course you still had to deal with the enemy
copter. I just basically played a "escort", distracting the copter while
letting my forces march toward the time machine.

It works well in the early levels, as you get toward the higher
levels, trying to make it through enemy territory with your copter is
tough, but I think it still works. It's been a while, but I guess that's
part of the reason I was able to finish the game. I don't exactly
remember, though.

A big drawback to this "trick" or whatever you want to call it
is, eventually, the enemy tanks, etc. will start coming out again, and
not in small groups, but in big droves. In a way, that's the fun part
for me, it's "full scale war!" But good luck trying to deal with a flood
of enemies marching toward your time machine. You can try and repeat the
trick again, and usually it is able to work.

Well, that's why I fixed mine with the IPG Editor. A freeware utility a
buddy of mine wrote a few years back. It'll hack cool features into all
your favorite games... Wings of Fury, Rescue Raiders, Drol, Mr. Do, etc.
On Rescue Raiders, it can give you unlimited bullets, bombs, or heat
seeking missiles, and also turn your bullets into napalm rockets. It's
really cool to fry the enemy guys on the ground. <EG> =) I have found the
best mix is turn the bullets in to napalm rockets, and give yourself
unlimited rockets and heat-seekers. Don't give yourself unlimited bombs,
tho! What you can do to grease the enemy copter is this: go in a slow
speed towards the right, close to the ground. He'll match your speed above
you and try to drop bombs on you. They'll all miss as long as you keep a
steady speed. As soon as he runs out of bombs, he'll go tearing for his
some base to re-arm. Simply turn around and nail him with napalm rockets
or heat-seekers. You can also sit out of range of the time machine's
rockets and watch your radar. As soon as you see the other copter take
off, loose two or three heat-seekers, and he's toast.

Oh, two more things about the code: Turn it off at the end of every level
by typing it in again, then at the beginning of the new level turn it back
on again. If you don't, it'll just hang the game randomly. Also, by typing
a "-" then a number, it will jump you to the beginning of that level. i.e.
-4 will jump you to the beginning of level 4.

If anyone's interested in a copy of the IPG Editor, e-mail me.
