About A2Opti.sdk
Status: Public domain
Release date: 8/6/98
from: cturley@grin.net

The ShrinkIt archive A2Opti.sdk is a 3.5 800K ProDOS disk archive. You must use
GS ShrinkIt v1.1 to unshrink it to a disk. The disk is self-booting under ProDOS
8. The disk contains; ProDOS v2.0.3, ProDOS basic, a basic program that loads and
runs a binary file (the program - Optimizer). Optimizer can be used from a DOS
3.3 disk (if you wish to put it on such) or it can also be launched from GS/OS or
ProDOS 16 - any version seems to work.

Optimizer was developed and sent to me from an old X-1WSW team member several
years ago for my own personal use as an optimizer for any sort of media storage
device; 5.25 disk, 3.5 disk, hard drive, etc. It's been tested and seems to do a
fairly nice job of optimizing any media storage device. If the program should
encounters a problem, it aborts optimization and quits. In such case it appears
to leave the media storage device it's attempting to optimizer in the same manner
as it was before the program started it's optimization process. Optimizer is
fairly fast - depending on the size of the device it's working on and is fairly
user friendly also.

I misplaced a box of disks containing this program in 1993 and just found it a
few weeks ago. So, I'm releasing the program to public domain with no claims of
use or support for it, in the hope that it will prove useful with the needs of
Apple II and IIgs users.

According to a current A2 user and friend who tested it a few days ago and even
wrote a short review, which I lost - due to an AOL email error :( - it does the
job as intended, he urged me to release it to the public domain - so that's
what I'm doing. No doubt there will be those that rag on me for releasing it,
but, hey...let them rag - I really don't care.

Cheers,
Tom
