Apple Graphics Tablet Driver for the Apple IIgs

Notes on the files "Tablet.Driver" and "Tab.16"
Both files are considered to be part of the same
SHAREWARE package.

"Tab.16" and "Tablet.Driver" are :

          copyright (c)__1987
          Godfreys Software
          2655 Pontiac Trail
          Ann Arbor MI, 48105

Please send $10.00 to Clyde B. Godfrey C/O the above
address. This isn't too much to ask is it? NO.
To borrow a phrase... You support me and I'll support
you. I have a bunch of other shareware stuff I'd like to
upload ... but I won't if I don't get some response from
this. To mention a couple items I've written ...
"Merger" -- a really nifty superhi file manipulator
and
"Floppy Copy" -- a disk duplicator that does a lot of stuff
the Finder can't.

------------------------------------------------------------
--------------
    "Tab.16" is a CDA to install/remove "Tablet.Driver"
"Tab.16" MUST be in the /SYSTEM/DESK.ACCS folder of your
boot disk.
"Tablet.Driver" MUST be in the /SYSTEM/DRIVERS folder of
your boot disk.
Just drag these files into the correct folder and you
are all set.

___Additional notes :

--- "Tablet.Driver" is 'hard wired' to slot 7.... this
should be no problem in most setups. If you really NEED to
have a driver configured for another slot send $10.00 and
you'll recieve a driver that does a 'slot search' and will
work with your configuration.

--- PLEASE let me know if there are any other problems.
I've tested the driver with everything I can get my hands on
(everything = Deluxepaint, Paintworks+, Top Draw, 8/16
Paint, Instant Music, Music Studio) and it works fine with
all of them. I can see no reason that there should be any
problems with any 'well behaved' software.

--- There is one slight problem though and it concerns the
Original release version of Paintworks+ (read PAINWORKS+). I
haven't and won't upgrade ... so you are on your own if you
have the newer version. Anyway heres the deal. Contrary to
what they (the PAINWORKS+ people) have said the original
version did in fact contain a tablet driver. It simply
didn't work as you no doubt know. So ... here is what you
have to do .....
___ make a backup copy of your Painworks disk
having trouble ? see section on "Floppy Copy"
     ___ go to basic
___ put the /Paintworks disk in a drive
     ___ [type] prefix/paintworks <RETURN>
     ___ [type] bload paintworks,A$1000,B$E000,L$7000,T$B3
<RETURN>
     ___ [type] call -151 <RETURN>
     ___ [type] \A2 03 12 22\<00/1000.8000P <RETURN>
___ at this point you should see this : 00/1447:
if you don't you probably have the newer version--
STOP --!!!!
don't go on. Get in touch with me and I'll help as
much as I can.
     ___ if you see 00/1447:
___ [type] 0=x 0=m <RETURN> lower case and the space
IS important.
     ___ [type] 1441L <RETURN>
___ the top of the listing should look like this :
00/1441: F4 00 00

00/1444: F4 06 E7
___ if it does go on otherwise STOP see above
     ___ [type] 1441:60 <RETURN>
     ___ [type] <CONTROL C><RETURN>
___ you should see the basic prompt ... ]
     ___ [type] bsave paintworks,A$1000,B$E000,L$7000,T$B3
<RETURN>

There you just removed their useless tablet driver and
"Tab.16" and "Tablet.Driver" will work.

--- That should do it

     Thanks for reading !
have fun with your new Apple Graphic Tablet Driver
