Hey guys! My name is Noah and this is my brand-spankin-new gemlog. I'm a Computer Science student at Indiana University, Bloomington with a great deal of love for anything and everything DIY. I've gotten really tired of social media and the internet in general recently and so I've decided to migrate here for (hopefully) greener pastures.
This semester hasn't been kind to me, COVID-19 depression hit hard since week 4 and hasn't ever fully left. Most of my classes are failing and my only real hope to survive to the next semester is to beg my professors to let me off easy with a W. Even then, I'm likely to lose the scholarship that's been sustaining me thus far, forcing me to find a job in the middle of one of the biggest recessions this country has seen in a while. While I'm sure I could find money for rent and food, managing schoolwork and finding time for my boyfriend on top of that sounds like an insurmountable obstacle for the same person that managed to get into this situation in the first place.
Worst comes to worst, I guess I could work my way through part-time college like my dad did. He seems to be doing fine right about now, plus I already got a good two semesters finished without building up any debt. If all goes well from here on out I should end up in a better situation than my dad is when I reach his age.
Big thanks to whoever is reading this btw. I haven't blogged much before, much less gem-logged. I don't think I want to keep my posts in this tone for very long, but this was the first topic that came to mind when I sat down today so I guess it'll be the thing I write. If you have any feedback at all, I'd love to hear it. I try to stay connected on the tilde.chat irc over #meta and #gemini, but you'll probably have better luck emailing me at giantnoah@gmail.com
Have a great one, and stay safe!
