In no particular order other than in which they were added here.
All of this being said: I have a bunch of Commander decks, am building a couple as I write this, and intend to buy, build & play the format more. But that's almost entirely because everyone _else_ who plays now exclusively wants to play EDH. So it's literally: you can't beat them (and want to keep playing), so you have no choice but to join them.
This is all written from the perspective of a casual, off-and-on lifelong player. No sweaty try-hardness here, nor is it respected. Touch grass.
So. I play in protest. These are my reasons:
1. 100 cards is too many: it's ungainly to shuffle. No, you don't get used to it.
2. 100 cards is too many: it takes too many games to get comfortable with them because you won't see half of them (at least) most games.
3. Building decks was one of the main draws overall for many of us. 60 cards with 4/unique means only ten or twenty decisions to make. With EDH it is 60+. Every. Time.
4. (corollary to above) It has diminished deck building joy & creativity.
5. It has absolutely destroyed the pre-con market for anything but EDH decks. WoTC has followed all the sweaty try-hards and went full-boner on EDH, and now when you look around all you can see are four EDH decks. Every. Single. Set.
6. It has destroyed the focus on any other playstyles.
7. It has caused focus on and even creation of mechanics that break in the traditional game. Goad in two player... good fucking luck. That's a 10 on the "Storm Scale" IMHO.
8. Multiplayer EDH is supposed to liven up but also expediate games right? Instead they take 85 hours and 84 of those are spent waiting for that one player whose every turn takes 4.5 hours and involves 800 moves.
