Quote from BMJ OpenHeart Study on Omega-6 vegetable oils source:
The authors of the study also noted that the increase in adipose tissue linoleic paralleled the increase in the prevalence of diabetes, obesity and asthma.
This is interesting, but doesn’t seem all that useful on its own. Is this to say that the rate of diabetes and obesity grew in proportion to the increase in linoleic acid? That seems reasonable, but it also seems like a stretch. Were the subjects getting fatter? It could have been for reasons unrelated to omega 6’s but of also expectedly subjects that are getting fatter are going to have a higher incidence of diabetes.
I guess I’m not really sure what this is telling me, except that it looks like sleight of hand.
