Baba Is You is a puzzle game where the rules you have to follow are present as blocks you can interact with. By manipulating them, you can change how the game works, repurpose things you find in the levels and cause surprising interactions!
This indie game was quite popular when it came out in 2019. Recently it caught my attention because it was included in itch.io's Bundle for Ukraine, so I went ahead and downloaded it.
I really liked it, though I'm not very good at it. It took me what felt like an entire hour to beat "A Way Out?" and (with a total play time of 5 hours) I technically reached the game's ending, but it turned out that the game was only getting started and there was entire meta-level which contained even more puzzling puzzles. I played for another 10 hours and that was only scratching the surface (albeit very slowly, mind you, I'm not very smart). After a while I stopped playing due to a sickness, then I got better, but I just didn't feel like returning to the game again.
Baba Is You shares a similarity to Celeste in that it is a very carefully balanced game with a friendly tone, featuring a very gentle difficulty curve but one that seems to grow to infinity. Overall a *9/10* for me, very good until it became too much.
Baba Is You is a lightweight game with a native Linux port, so no problems here.
