About

Eros is a DIY built Core 2 Duo rig. It's in storage right now because I just don't have the room to have it elsewhere.

I want to upgrade it sooner or later with some more RAM, an SSD and Linux.

• Case: Montech Air 100 lite mATX (Black)
• Motherboard: Intel DQ45CB mATX
• Chipset: Intel Q45
• CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (2C/2T, 3GHz, 65W TDP, LGA775) (xw4600 CPU)
• Cooler: Intel LGA775 Stock (aluminium only)
• RAM: 2GB DDR2 800MHz
• GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6850
• HDD: Toshiba P300 1TB 3.5" SATA
• OS: Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3
• PSU: Cooler Master MWE550 230V2 ATX, 80 Plus Bronze

Issues

• One 2GB RAM stick, from Hynix, decided to die and I had to remove it, bringing the total memory capacity down to 2GB.

Trivia

• Eros is named after 433-Eros, the second largest near-Earth object.
• AMD's Catalyst drivers were trouble and had to be installed manually, as they were... never digitally signed prior to release. Amazing.
• The motherboard is green.
• The fans in the case are mostly Noctuas, because the case was reused from a scrapped TV PC build.
• It has HORRIBLE coil whine, probably coming from the motherboard.
