Computer Collection: Eros
About
Eros is a DIY built Core 2 Duo rig. It's in storage right now because I just don't have the room to have it elsewhere.
I want to upgrade it sooner or later with some more RAM, an SSD and Linux.
Specs
- Case: Montech Air 100 lite mATX (Black)
- Motherboard: Intel DQ45CB mATX
- Chipset: Intel Q45
- CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (2C/2T, 3GHz, 65W TDP, LGA775) (xw4600 CPU)
- Cooler: Intel LGA775 Stock (aluminium only)
- RAM: 2GB DDR2 800MHz
- GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6850
- HDD: Toshiba P300 1TB 3.5" SATA
- OS: Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 3
- PSU: Cooler Master MWE550 230V2 ATX, 80 Plus Bronze
Issues
- One 2GB RAM stick, from Hynix, decided to die and I had to remove it, bringing the total memory capacity down to 2GB.
Trivia
- Eros is named after 433-Eros, the second largest near-Earth object.
- AMD's Catalyst drivers were trouble and had to be installed manually, as they were... never digitally signed prior to release. Amazing.
- The motherboard is green.
- The fans in the case are mostly Noctuas, because the case was reused from a scrapped TV PC build.
- It has HORRIBLE coil whine, probably coming from the motherboard.
