category text

some of my favorite things in select categories

color

i can't decide between purple and green, they both have a lot of good shades and even work well together!

number

my favorite number is 9 because it is the biggest. a close second is 3 as 9 wouldn't exist without it

tree

black alder (alnus glutinosa)

crystals

blue kyanite, desert rose, and opal

animal

testudines (tortoises and turtles) are cool. the best bug is the :3 caterpillar. my favorite bird would have to be the cedar waxwing.

sasakia charonda (japanese emperor caterpillar)

watch

the amazfit neo looks really cool but unfortunately is locked to a proprietary app that definitely does not respect your private data, so the only obvious answer is really the F91-W (with a sensorwatch board and potentially some actual sensors?)

thinking sand

this section lists my favorite software/hardware and configurations thereof!

programming language

wren is just so cute and tidy i want to rewrite my entire website (again!) in it

πŸ’Ώ wren

open source license

i use MIT for sake of consistency, though ISC is my actual favorite cause it's simply less

operating system

i'd recommend antergos's successor endeavor os. it is an arch installer that comes with a bunch of niceties, like yay by default. if u just want an linux to use i guess you could run fedora but where's the fun in that. for a server almalinux is probably your best bet

window manager

i used i3 as a bastardized floating window manager, tiling when i actually want to do something. long live xfce! openbox is death </3

controller layout

the xbox controller layout is way more ergonomic then the dualshock/playstation controller layout and i will die on this hill. SHAME on them for not adding gyro support, but i am primarily keyboard and mouse sweat

laptop

the framework. currently i own a thinkpad x230, thinkpads are also cool laptops β€” but they weren't designed to be cool, unlike the framework, which is cool from factory rather then years of hobbyist support that's slowly aging away

phone

in terms of android i'd love the samsung galaxy s5, but it's too slow nowadays so i am using a samsung galaxy ~~s10e~~ a52s 5g. the pinephone would be a close contender if it was more polished.

keyboard

right now i am running the feker ik75 β€” a stubby board with fn keys & arrows, four writing buttons, a DIAL, and individual key backlighting and *underglow* fully programmable through via/qmk. i prefer cherry profile keycaps and i really like this commodore keycap set. i used gateron yellows that i poured so much effort into lubing + filming, but i think the gateron ink browns i'm using now (currently unlubed) would be my preference. i just think the commodore 64 styled keycaps are soooo sexy (you can get reproductions on aliexpress for a decent price too)!

mouse

currently on my second razer basilisk x hyperspeed, my first broke with some sort of firmware/antenna issue. it is a cheap wireless mouse with acceptable build quality, a good sensor, and... that's about it. razer is a mid company with overpriced products, but this mouse is alright.

music

my favorite arists/albums/songs are not exhaustive, i like a lot of music. what i consider bangers are songs on my #country and #country-2 soundcloud playlists featuring authentic deep-cut underground country music. my 2023 spotify wrapped was the first one that was actually all bangers and no skips so i'm gonna just put that in a playlist when i finally decide to download my 3+k liked songs

#country (2020-21) [soundcloud]

#country-2 (2022-23) [soundcloud]

music player

on windows i use musicbee, i haven't been able to find one that suits my needs on linux but i haven't really looked. on my phone i use mucke!

mucke

streaming service

i try to buy from bandcamp as much as possible, but for discovering new music/general listening i tend to use soundcloud. i also use spotify but only on web with an adblocker, or on mobile with a modified version through the xManager spotify patch manager

xManager

genre

i listen to pretty much every genre, but my overall favorite would have to be hyperpop, aka. #country. #country is an inside joke between me and my friend, where i linked them a soundcloud hyperpop song that i though was good and they pointed out how it was tagged under "#Country"
