Kombucha Recipe
Here's a simple kombucha recipe that I've been using for the last 3 years.
First Fermentation
- Bring 4 cups of filtered water to a boil, then turn off heat.
- Put 3 tbsp of black tea into the hot water. Steep for 5 mins.
- Add 1 cup of sugar into the tea.
- Put 8 cups of cold water into the 1-gallon brew jar.
- Pour the tea into the brew jar.
- Make sure the temperature doesn't exceed 86F.
- Add the SCOBY in.
- Let it ferment for around 5 days.
Second Fermentation
- Fill your bottles with around 1/10 juice of your choosing (I personally love lemon, grapefruit, and blueberry). Add some sugar or honey if you prefer as well.
- Let it sit for around 3 days.
- Move it to the fridge.
