There are vending machines all over Tokyo which sold all sorts of tea, coffee, water, and yogurt drinks for about ¥160 or about $1. I was worried that I'd have to skip out on these vending machines because I'd have trouble looking for bathrooms while I was on the go. Turns out that Tokyo has a lot of public bathrooms. You can find them all over the place especially in parks and train stations. They're all clearly labeled, and you can just ask people, "toire?" when you're looking for one.

I tried my best to use Organic Maps and OsmAnd when I was in Tokyo, but it ended up being stressful to use when I tried it on public transit. I found that they weren't as detailed, so I often got lost with these apps. Google Maps on the other hand had very detailed and clear information on where to go inside the train station (which, btw, can be massive!) and which train to take. It sucks, but unfortunately there's no other privacy respecting, open source alternative at the moment.
There are a lot of radical spaces in Japan, but I was only able to go to one called Irregular Rhythm Asylum. I loved it in there it was filled with zines, books, posters, tshirts, music. It reminded me of Wooden Shoe Books here in Philly.

The forests in Mount Takao, the garden in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, and the parks around us were absolutely stunning. Of course, I also learned that Japan had the opportunity to replenish their forests after being cut down by the Meiji government.
