“Our mission is to ensure the internet is a global public resource, open and accessible to all.”
usage of computers is a cultural technology.
like the ability of reading and writing. everyone should have access to it.
therefore free software is key.
wallstreet is run by free software, facebook, google, can't live without gnu/linux. even freebsd is widely used by netflix for example.
in a way "we have won". aaand still nobody knows this.
even every android phone or tablet is running linux inside.
how beautiful is that. a joint effort of a very big collective from all over the world is creating software, so everyone can peacefully participate in a global network.
(picture email example)
you have the freedom to choose the provider of your email inbox. whether gmail, hotmail, protonmail, posteo you name them. and access to it with the email client of your choice. for example android mail, thunderbird, even ms outlook.
choose the app that you trust. its your decision how you access "email".
over the recent years the main personal communication switched to so called "messengers".
(> [> []> [Where is the picture of imaginary island in slides?]])
centralisation of services broke our beautiful network. competing islands appeared and over the years people accepted that you can't reach signal people with whatsapp and its totally okay.
why? because YOU lost your freedom. you lost your fundamental rights that we, the free software enthusiats think, everyone should have. convinience over freedom.
I like to visit fosdem every year since 2010.
its 8000 pluuus hackers

i sat in a lighting talk 2015? about matrix. yeah, what a cool idea. "dead on arrival" a friend say to me.
its alive and kicking, france was adopting matrix as the state-messenger. we have it in germany as the bundesmessenger and bundeswehrmessenger. the german gematik is developing the t1 messenger for doctor patient communication. (pics pics pics)
its there, its a federated network, its free software. yes i fell in love with it. the core is controlled by the matrix foundation.
yes, its the last time, > [super lustig, da wird sicher eine Lachpause entstehen]
because its the first time:
its federated, free software and easy to use.

the free software foundation europe was starting the campaing
"public money, public code 👊"
and to really switch messengers the last time, we need you all together for this future.
only if we are enough spreading the news, we can invite others to finally be part of a healthy system to communicate, to send pictures of your children in peaceful times and to reach an ambulance to the front line in bad times.
we need to collectively use the software and support the matrix foundation.
so we are:
"ruling the nation,
with every donation"
wanna join?
