The concept of communication is almost entirely dependent upon fantasies about the audience. So you should fantasize that your audience is an incredibly smart and generous person. When they let you down, you should imagine they are testing your resolve. When they ghost you, imagine they are giving you space to ponder the eternal verities. · 1 month ago

I also talk about interactions with this person to other people and gauge how they respond. you also have to find out how they like to talk. some people are fast talkers, some are complainers, some keep to themselves, etc. if you can match their style and mannerisms it's much easier to find common ground. · 1 month ago

it takes time. I generally assume people are genuine unless they show me they aren't. I look for non verbal clues and how they say things. depending on how they answer I will either share more or keep it to just pleasantries. more personal things I save for much later, depending on the person. · 1 month ago

@gritty When you already met the stranger how do you approach the conversation? You don’t know if the person is of good will or not, open or not etc. General rules. · 1 month ago

I don't think I understand your question. are you asking what's the best way to meet a stranger and have a meaningful conversation? · 1 month ago
