Feel so stupid for singing the praises of chatgpt last week when just a few days later it was revealed a ton of hacked accounts were being sold on dark web markets. Thankfully I am now learning about open source and locally run Large Language Models. I still stand by the belief they are a useful tool, but Its just not a good time to put trust into any company to keep my data safe.

I'm not sure if I really care if my ChatGPT account is hacked? I mean, somebody could read my embarassing conversations with "Chatty" as I call them, but I'm not sure if there's anything damaging or potentially lucrative to be had there. Even if I had been asking about some kind of medical or personal issue, ok...then what? Not sure what value there is to be had for a hacker here.

Maybe if I had a developer account they could use up all of my credits or tokens or whatever? But I don't. · 6 months ago
