I realized like, yesterday that it'd been a week since I updated my *log with anything. So here's a recap.
A big reason I didn't post anything last week was b/c of hurricans Marco and Laura. We actually got pretty lucky where I am -- Marco petered out before really even making landfall, and though Laura was *intense* (cat 4!), it hit far to the west of here, on the LA-TX border. So we just had some heavy rain and tornado warnings, but we came out unscathed.
However, since we *thought* Marco was going to be so heavy, work was called off for Monday and Tuesday -- which ended up being really beautiful days, actually. But then Laura was looking intense so work was also called off for Wednesday and Thursday. Of course they didn't do us a favor and just call off Friday too -- I had to go in that day, but that was fine. I got some recording done.
My new Thinkpad x240 came in the mail and it's been a lot of fun. I popped Void on there and started setting up EXWM, to really get into Emacs. There's been some frustrations and confusions but I think I'm getting the hang of it. The biggest thing actually is the CTRL key placement: on the Thinkpad it's one in from the corner, with the FN key on the outside corner. I actually got used to it pretty quickly, but now when I use another keyboard, like at work, I keep hitting Super instead of CTRL -_-. Oh, and also C-s is search in Emacs but Save in Firefox. Which is just great. I need to set up EXWM keys ....
Yesterday we really got into meal prep, it was great. The wife made lunch for herself for the whole week; I made some sauces for the tacos I'm going to make myself for lunches; I made quiche for dinner tonight and tomorrow. We just bopped in the kitchen for like, three hours.
I keep going back and forth (and putting off) buying myself another VPS to put acdw.net on, and like, a capsule and stuff. Suggestions are welcome -- right now I'm looking at Digital Ocean since that's what breadpunk is on. Hm.
Since announcing slices.breadpunk.club, I've had three more sign-ups to the site! So that's fun. We're baking in here!
