I wish I could remember why I wound up preferring elinks to lynx in the terminal browser game, because I don't think I've ever come across a Mostly Text person mentioning it. 'Tis always lynx they're mentioning.
New Yorkers Reject Electric Cars
Do I really need to list the idiocies involved? Outrageous repair costs of EVs? Lack of infrastructure? Refueling times measured in hours? Ever-decreasing range limitations? The horribleness of providing money to Elon to pollute our planet? Or just the direct impact of buying a vehicle containing several times more metals (the mining of which is destroying our planet), or the fact that the electricity the EV uses comes from coal-burning plants in some poor area?
It is ironic that people who are EV proponents think they are saving the planet.

A Google Ad Points Out Our Existential Problem
Next scene shows our hero buying a new toaster oven for $239 (Compare to: $300) using Google's amazing technology.
That's what we do when a knob comes off an appliance.
God help us.
God helps those who fix their own knobs!
Is it possible to have sustainable digital communities?
The original question was: Can we have sustainable digital communities?
One possible clue:
communi-ty communi-cation
I think community implies becoming familiar with others, becoming familiars.
And I suspect throwing a post over a digital wall every so often doesn't accomplish that.
Then again:
Realisation is but the opposite of ignorance. To take the world as real and one’s self as unreal is ignorance. The cause of sorrow. To know the self as the only reality and all else as temporal and transient is freedom, peace and joy. It is all very simple. Instead of seeing things as imagined, learn to see them as they are. It is like cleansing a mirror. The same mirror that shows you the world as it is, will also show you your own face. The thought 'I am' is the polishing cloth. Use it. - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
