I gave emacs a serious look back in the day

Yep. Not unlike when, as a young lad, I decided it felt better to fold my hands "left hand higher in the finger interlock" than "right hand higher in the finger interlock", there was a time when I felt I had to settle on either vi(m) or emacs.

And it was tough. I adored the lispiness of the emacs situation, the doors of customization seemingly flung so widely open. And who didn't want to be part of the esoterically cool lisp crowd?

But what killed it for me was feeling as though emacs required more finger strokes, and that over time such would drippy-faucet me into a state of non-minimalist misery. I was also leery of emacs' installation footprint. And of my own tendency to become enamored of capabilities I'll utterly forget inside three days for not really needing such very often: Yeah, I could customize my emacs environment up the proverbial wazoo, yet my primary editor use case is far and away about simple edits not worth boiling the keyboard stroke ocean over.

But I'd love to read how wrong I was. Love to hear what I've been missing out on.

Someone?

Anyone?
