If/when you can't remember, there's no basis for comparison with now.
Without memory, now is necessarily *new* - and quite possibly exciting.
Ennui follows from now seeming little to no more than then.
Thinking along those lines has me wondering the value of online permanence.
Isn't saving/archiving an exercise in working really hard to guarantee ennui?
I'm thinking bookmarks, quotes, file versions/archives, blah blah.
So much effort, and eventually so little - if any - time to go back to what was saved.
