Despite the range of emotion that unicode emoji are able to express, I find that pure ascii emoticons capture a charm that the former could never emulate. I belive that ascii emoticons are much more aesthetically pleasing and convey emotion just as well.

Obviously, this is far from a comprehensive list. The emoticons in this list were chosen based off of personal prefrence. I will also be adding more to the collection as I come across them.
